Our Belief

Goals

In 1994 Credo Foundation for Justice (CFJ) began an awareness-creating programme on the problem of children on the street, and in 1995 we began work on the street as our own response to that Programme.

Credo Centre was opened in June 1997 by CFJ in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development.

Credo Drop In and Development Centre

The aim of Credo Centre is to reduce the number of children who live and/or work on the street by:

• providing a place of safety with developmental and remedial opportunities

• creating awareness of social injustices against children

• empowering family

We do this in collaboration with other like-minded agencies.

To Achieve Our Purpose We Offer

Drop In Services

• A safe sanctuary from the horrors of the street
• Basic physical needs of food and clothing
• Counselling

Remedial Services

• A chance to be reunited with family
• Opportunity for children to return to school
• An all round development programme
• Emergency short-term night accommodation

Family Support System

This service is for the families of those children already on the street as well as for families of those at risk.

Socially displaced children up to 17 years of age.

At Credo each child is treated as an unique person and every effort is made to try to meet his/her particular individual needs.

“In all matters related to the children the child’s best interest is a primary consideration”
Convention on the Rights of the Child

To work towards re-instatement, social conformity and productive citizenship

To re-create the family circle where possible

To facilitate transition from street to Credo to home/school

To offer a safe haven which provides love, care, attention and security as well as an all-round development programme

To empower family and to ensure full parental guidance and responsibility

To create awareness of the reality of socially displaced children and injustices against children
